Profile of NKECHI S. UDEZE, PhD, CLN

Dr. Nkechi S. Udeze is a seasoned Library Administrator. Her core responsibility is to support the university in the effective development of academic teaching, learning, and research through the provision of books, journals, digital resources, including access to online databases, e-books, and the management of university library learning spaces.

She holds a BLS, MLS, and PhD in Library and Information Science. She has lectured in the Department of Library and Information Science at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Madonna University, Nigeria (Okija Campus). As the former Director of the Prof. Kenneth Dike State Central e-Library, Awka, Anambra State, she initiated the first cancer awareness walk held in Anambra State in 2016. This cancer awareness programme has been sustained by the library to date. She also initiated #AsusuIgboGaAdigide, an annual Igbo language programme aimed at promoting the sustainability of the Igbo language.

Under her leadership, the State Library won the Best Public Library Award consecutively for three years (2018, 2019, and 2020), earning the library the first-ever Evergreen Award in the history of the award. Her research interests focus on improving public libraries to enhance their impact on individual and national development.

Dr Udeze is a Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN) and a member of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA). She served as the immediate past Chair of the Public Library Section and also as the Chair of the Anambra State Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association.

She is a member of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) and the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN)..
